Brits Cut Down Night Outs To Supervise Stiff Fiscal Times

An increasing number of Britons are planning to reduce their spending on entertainment due to the continuous presence of credit crunch.

According to the Halifax Home Insurance, rising costs of living has put the people under pressure; as a consequence they are now cutting down their spending on going out to restaurants and nightclubs. Instead, a rising number of people prefer to spend their night with neighbours and friends by watching DVD movies at home with a takeaway.

Research conducted by the firm reveals that a night out for 4 people involving an outing to movie, dining out, drinks and taxies bill amounted to a total cost of 254 pounds. Whereas, spending time at home with a takeaway, renting a DVD and playing indoor games would put the same number of consumers incurring costs of 58 pounds and 44 pence. This produces a saving of 195 pounds and 56 pence that is just beneath 49 pounds per person.

Paul Birkhead, spokesperson for Halifax Home Insurance, said that it's very risky to spend night at home with friends as there are more chances of spills and breakages, so it is important to make sure you have home insurance which includes your accidental damage.

Britons are looking to cut down their expenditure in other areas also, like 15% people are considering joint trips to the supermarket to reduce spending on petrol and 84% of people are trying their hard to save money for future. Whereas, 73% of Britons are sharing money saving tips with their family, friends and neighbours.
