Brits Exposed To Be Coping With True Cost Of Inflation

It has been revealed that mounting cost of living is increasingly affecting the pockets and purses of consumers.

In research conducted by the Motley Fool as part of its bi-annual inflation study it was pointed out that rises in the cost of living for "real people" are surging at an annual rate of eight per cent. Such a figure, the firm indicated, is considerably behind data released by the Office for National Statistics which reported that the consumer price index (CPI) is presently at three per cent. This shows a rise from the 2.5 per cent recorded in April. It was stated that the drive in the CPI - which the government uses to adjust wages was a result of increases in cost for electricity, gas and heating oil.

In facing dramatic rises in the cost of living, it may be possible that consumers find their ability to manage the varying demands on their spending is coming under more pressure.
