According to a new report, parents should be attentive that their children can cause a big damage in their finances, although they may be less in size.

The research conducted by Abbey Insurance, which as a part of the Santander group revealed that, over the past 12 months around 2.5 million British properties have been smashed by young boys and girls. The financial services firm also showed that such damages have costed over 552 million pounds to put it at right condition. Meanwhile children from the age group of one to five years are most likely to spoil a home. 23 per cent of children in this demographic accounting are responsible for all domestic failure.

Around 38 per cent of the people state that their wallpaper and paintwork damage by the children needs repairing, as it the common target of the children to harm. However, it was revealed that 30 per cent of people have been wounded by broken ornaments and other household items, whereas 31 per cent showed their furniture has been smashed.

Commenting on the figures, Tony Beckwith, head of Santander Insurance UK, said: "Dealing with the damage caused by children can be problematic, costly and cause unwanted tension if people do not have the appropriate level of insurance cover."
