Mounting Cost for Credit Card Customers
As per a recent report, the credit card customers are likely to be affected with rising cost in the UK. This is due to the hike in fees and charges of credit card companies in the past two years. All this has made it hard to manage finance for cash stripped households in the UK.
In April 2006, the average purchase rate on a credit card has jumped to a considerable extent. Earlier, a limited number of customers were punished, but now most of the borrowers have to pay high price. Customers, who are paying their complete bill every month, will not find any difference. However, those struggling with financial stress and repaying just the minimum will have to suffer a lot, says one industry official.
She added, drawing cash out on credit cards has been a costly way to borrow, especially because the interest rate is applicable from the very first day. In addition to this, the cash advance charges of most of the institutions have also increased. With such an increase in the average rate, customers who were till now depending on cash advances to bring stability to their monthly budget will have to face even worse situation.
Despite everything else, the number of credit card users in the UK has shot up in some recent months. To manage with the stretched finances because of rising cost of living, high mortgage repayments, increased bills have given impetus to an incredible increase in the number of credit cards users. So much reliance on plastic money by the consumers to deal with their financial commitments is giving rise to a number of additional problems.
With the base rate coming down, tight credit conditions and many such factors contribute to making it tough for the consumers to find a manageable deal.
